Driver flees leaving passengers stuck inside A mini-bus overturned near Jalandhar by-pass on Wednesday,leaving 20 passengers travelling in the vehicle injured. While many passengers were sent back home after first aid,some are undergoing medical treatment at the local Civil Hospital. They included Kulbhushan Kumar,Ravi Kumar,Sandeep kumar,Kuldip Singh and Gareebo Das. We were coming from Phillaur to Ludhiana and the driver was driving at a very high speed. He seemed to be under the influence of some intoxicant, said Kulbushan Kumar narrating the frightening experience. We asked him to slow down but he did not listen to us. Soon the bus hit a divider and overturned, he added. Station House Officer (SHO) Gurpreet Singh informed,We have booked the driver who managed to flee leaving the mini-bus and even the passengers stuck inside. People living around the area helped the passengers to come out of bus. We too reached the spot immediately and the injured were quickly sent for medical treatment. The police called in a crane to straighten the overturned mini-bus,which had caused a huge traffic jam on the busy Jalandhar by-pass. The cops are now looking for the absconding driver.
