Lubana no longer technical advisor to PAU vice-chancellor

A senior faculty member,on condition of anonymity,said: “There are two more posts which can be handed over to Dr Lubana. Dean,College of Agriculture,Dr M S Aulakh retires this month and the post will fall vacant. At the same time,the post of Director Research is also vacant after Dr P S Minhas left. Dr Lubana,known to be close to the V-C,can be given the additional charges.”

Meanwhile,this post created in 2008 had brought Dr Kang in direct clash with 1,400 non-teaching staff members of PAU. Dr Lubana was first appointed as secretary to vice-chancellor,a post which belongs to the non-teaching cadre.

Facing stiff opposition,Dr Kang changed this post to technical advisor to V-C and appointed a secretary from the non-teaching cadre. Dr Jagtar Singh Dhiman,additional director,Department of Communications and International Linkages,who is also the official spokesperson of the university,said: “It is the prerogative of the V-C and he can appoint anyone to any post. Moreover,it does not really matter where one sits and can continue to assist the V-C.”
