Is SAD’s Galib missing the Congress?

Galib delivers speeches as if he still represents Congress. Last week,while addressing a function on the Tajpur road,he had inadvertently said,“The Congress will win all the 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state and the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government will come to power at the Centre.” He actually meant that SAD-BJP alliance will win all the LS seats and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government will come to power.

Galib later corrected himself by saying that he meant that SAD-BJP alliance will win all seats in Punjab.

While addressing the SAD-BJP workers rally held to welcome him (Galib) into the SAD fold in February,he had unwittingly referred to Congress as his party and said,“There are many sycophants in our party.” But he immediately corrected himself saying he was no longer in Congress.

Not only Galib,but also some other leaders campaigning for him can be seen fumbling with words.

Recently,senior BJP leader and deputy speaker of Vidhan Sabha,Satpal Gosain also had a slip of tongue while addressing a function in favour of Galib. He said,“Our friend from Congress,Galib will definitely win the Ludhiana Lok Sabha seat.”

Not only voters but the leaders of SAD-BJP alliance too can understand that due to his long association with the Congress,such faux pas by Galib and other leaders is not very surprising. Interestingly,they add a fun element to the otherwise dull election speeches. Galib too smilesover such slips of the tongue and is prompt to rectify his mistake.
