The Excise and Taxation Department seized unclaimed stock of the country liquor,nearly 2,200 kl,from the Jagraon area on Friday.
The biggest haul of the first quarter of the financial year was destroyed by Excise and Taxation officer Surinder Singh China.
The raw liquor is popularly known as lahan,said assistant Excise and Taxation commissioner H P S Ghotra,under whose supervision the raid was conducted.
Ghotra said the team of the Excise officials was accompanied by nearly 17 police officers,who were well equipped.
Meanwhile,two persons,in a similar case,were arrested and will be presented in the court tomorrow. The team recovered 100 kg of lahan from Bakhtaur Singh alias Bakhu in village Sherawala and 37,500 ml liquor from one Gurdev Singh in village Bagian.
