Saturday is round the corner,and so is Independence Day. And with it comes a weekend of programming designed for the day starting with a Special on 10 Ka Dum on Saturday,August 15,at 9pm on Sony. It is for the people,by the people,and hence the participants too are dabbawalas and machiwalis (fisherwomen). From dancing with Salman,to bringing him gifts – authentic Koli delicacies,everyone has a ball on this one. Be it Meena Bhoir,the contestant who sells fish or Deepak Pangare,a bright young dabbawala along with a 5000 strong Dabbawala Association,the episode is truly national. Pangare,also presents Salman with the trademark Nehru cap: “This is the pride of every dabbawala,a cover for the computerized brain under it!” he says. To add to the spirit and energy,Dus Ka Dum will also have TV actor and funny man Ali Asghar in his Basanti act!
UTV Movies too will be screening the World TV premiere of Rock On!! on Saturday,at 12 noon. Says Shantonu Aditya,Executive Director,UTV Global Broadcasting Ltd, With our recent acquisition of 25 titles from Reliance Big Entertainment films,of which 20 are world TV premieres,Rock On is the first from this stable. While Set Max has a line-up of comedies,Beg,Borrow & Steal on UTV Bindass will witness pride and patriotism come alive. The contestant on this adventerous show,Aaliyah,maps her journey from Ropar to Jalandhar that too on the roof of a bus,and then “Haveli” where she performs the Gidda! Following this,it’s Amritsar and Wagah border where Aaliyah attends the ceremony and joins the chorus of about 5000 in singing patriotic songs for the country!
