The management of MGM Public School lodged a police complaint on Saturday, against the parents of students who had gone on the rampage in the school campus yesterday to protest fee hike by the school.

Gajjan Singh,Director of the School Managing Committee said,“Members of the school management committee met Senior Suprintendent of Police,Ludhiana,Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill and apprised him about yesterday’s act of hooliganism by the parents. We told him in detail that how a law and order problem arose after the parents broke windowpanes, broke away locks and threatened the school staff. The SSP has marked our complaint to DSP Sarabha Nagar police station and we have been assured that appropriate action will be taken.”

When asked if the school management will rollback the increase in the fee,a determined Gajjan Singh said,“After yesterday’s incident, our school management has become adamant to continue with the fee hike.”

On February 25,the parents had protested against the fee hike, which is said to be almost double of the existing fee structure. But yesterday, they held a meeting with the school management appealing them to reconsider the issue on the condition that the school will not increase the fee for the next ten years. Upon failure of the school authorities to agree to the condition, the parents started protesting against the school authorities and also blocked the traffic at the Dugri bridge on Sidhwan canal for over an hour.
