Expressway project to be over in Oct
The expressway,the dream project of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal,will be completed in October this year.
The expressway,the dream project of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal,will be completed in October this year. This was announced by PWD Minister Sharanjeet Singh Dhillon while inspecting the project.
This Rs 328 crore project aims at decongesting traffic and ease the ride for commuters going towards the Chandigarh,Delhi,Malerkotla,Sangrur areas.
A part of the project was inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Minister before the Vidhan Sabha elections. Dhillon today inspected the Garthali bridge and few more areas.
Apart from this,he also announced the four-laning of the Doraha-Neelon road and widening of the road from Neelon to Ropar – at a total cost of Rs 228 crore.
This project will be completed in the year 2013,he announced. The four laning project will,thus,result in more deforestation.
Full grown fruit and eucalyptus trees can be seen all along the canal. However,the minister was mum over this subject and said that it is yet to be worked out.
He,however,said that tenders of these projects have been called. In addition to this,the the road from Neelon to Ropar will be made 33 feet wide,which will end traffic woes. As of now,the road is broken as well at a number of places.
The minister informed that they have also called tenders for the road from Manpur headworks towards Riakot and Jagraon at a total cost of Rs 200 crore.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) councillors were also called on the occasion,showing them the progress of the project.
The Minister wants the councillors to encash on the development of this project in the ongoing Municipal Corporation elections.
The councillors were given details of the project which they are supposed to communicate to voters while campaigning.
