Dhussi bandh: Panel members question officials

It seems that no lessons have been learnt from last year’s damage to various points of Dhussi bandh due to which more than Rs 1.5 crore were spent on repair works. No money has been sanctioned by the irrigation department even now though estimates have been sent. The matter was brought to light Friday by Joga Singh Mattewara,member of district advisory committee before AS Gujral,member Zila Parishad and also having additional charge of ADC(D). Singh said,“We have sent the estimates to the state government for formal approval,but funds have not been sanctioned as yet.”

However information revealed that last year temporary works were done at Mattewara,Kherabet and 8 more sites,but after that permanent works have not been done as of now and monsoons will start in july.
