While work at the sensitive sites of Dhussi Bundh is still incomplete,the Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tiwari has claimed that all arrangements for flood control are complete. At the same time,DC has warned all the officers to stay alert and discrepancy if any will not be spared. The DC said that as of now 15 sites of Dhussi along Sutlej river are sensitive and looking at the rising level of water in Bhakra,one cannot take things lightly.
He said,More than 50 villages along Sutlej river are in the danger zone and departments like animal husbandry,drainage,food and civil supplies,and health department have been told to make all possible arrangements for the evacuation of people and animals in case of flood like situations. They have also been told to find possible places for evacuation centres.
The sensitive zones are Madhepur,Kasabad,Mattewara,Issapur,Huzra complex,Kherabet as per the information of Executive engineer Gurdial Singh,work in few sites is near completion while at few points,work is close to completion.
The DC will perform an inspection on July 27 and another meeting of officers will be called in SDM Samralas office. Tiwari said that villages falling under Koomkalan,Machiwara and Sidhwan Bet area are under danger zone.
Though the drainage department has revealed that work is near completion,sources revealed that supply of stone for the strengthening of the weak points is still short.
Last year the erosion of budh was reported at Mattewara,Kherabet,Madhepur areas in the month of August. Deputy Commissioner stated that this year they want to make sure that all goes well in the coming month.
