A day after a bloody clash ensued between two students’ groups at Arya College,the campus wore a deserted look on Friday as hardly any student turned up to submit admission forms.

A day after a bloody clash ensued between two students’ groups at Arya College,the campus wore a deserted look on Friday as hardly any student turned up to submit admission forms.

To avoid any untoward incident after yesterday’s event,in which gunshots were also fired by students,there was a heavy deployment of police personnel who kept strict vigil on the campus.

“Unlike other days,the college was deserted the whole day. We did not spot a single student in the college,” a teacher said.

Reacting to Thursday’s clash,another teacher said that they feel threatened in the college as it has become a battleground for students’ groups.

The classes will begin at the college from July 27 and on Saturday,the college will organise a havan to mark the beginning of the new session,sources said.

College staff representative Praveen Sharma said,“We are concerned about students walking into the college with weapons. It has been happening for the last four to five years and no steps have been taken in this regard by the principal.”

President of Arya Pratinidhi Sabha,Punjab,Sudarshan Sharma said that he has convened a meeting of the college management to discuss the current situation. The college functions under the Sabha.

“I am collecting the details of Thursday’s clash and have,therefore,convened a meeting to discuss the situation,” said Sharma.
