The Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) has sought monetary help for Karan,a 22-year-old patient, who is to undergo splenectomy for the removal of his spleen which is causing continuous bleeding and weight loss. According to a hospital release,Karan came to Christian Medical College and Hospital in August 2009 with enlarged liver and spleen. But he continues to suffer from high grade fever and low haemoglobin and platelets levels.
A tailor,Karan earns around Rs 2,000 per month. But for the last eight months,he has not been able to work and the only earning member in his family is his elder brother Kripal, who works as a guard in the city. Kripal earns Rs 2500 per month and has a wife and three children to support. He already has spent more than Rs 1 lakh on treatment.
Karans condition can only improve if his spleen, the organ destroying his blood cells,is removed. The cost of this surgery would be around Rs 30,000,in the absence of any untoward complications. The hospital authorities have appealed to the people of Ludhiana to come forward and help Karan. Those interested may contact Medical Superintendent,Christian Medical College and Hospital,Ludhiana.
