Cong leaders allege factionalism during Dewan’s tenure,seek his resignation

A group of Congress leaders,along with Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) General Secretary Satish Sharma,on Wednesday sought the resignation of district Congress committee president Pawan Dewan,after they alleged that during his (Dewan) tenure,factionalism was rampant in the party. Sharma stated that Dewan had failed to take all the party workers along and the youth leaders were feeling neglected. However,Dewan was surprised by the allegations and said that he was well connected with party workers and leaders. “A few people have been making baseless allegations and are trying to bring a bad name to the party. I will discuss the issue with the PPCC president”. However,Dewan has reportedly been on a war of words with Ludhiana (west) Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu and councillors of his constituency,regarding the appointment of a few members.
