A seven-year-old child studying in Class II had to pay heavily for not reciting a table of two as he was allegedly beaten up by the teacher.
The incident happened at Government Primary School,Gobind Nagar,on Wednesday when Balpreet Singh,7,was beaten up with a stick by his mathematics teacher.
A resident of Krishna Nagar,the child is now not ready to go to school. His mother Amandeep Kaur said,I was changing clothes of my son when I saw bruises on his arms and neck. I was shocked and went to complain when the teacher misbehaved with me asking me not to call the police. I sounded my husband Gurdeep Singh. Finally,we decided to file a police complaint.
However,Tarsem Kaur,headmistress of the school,denied the allegation of the child being beaten up. The student is very weak in studies, she said.
Sub-Inspector Pawan Kumar,Ghumar Mandi police station,confirmed the receipt of a complaint from the parents and said that the teacher would be booked if found guilty.
