Labourers protest on Bahadurke Road

High drama was witnessed on Bahadurke Road when several labourers staged a protest against police officials and factory owners. They were protesting because a labourer was reportedly looted and beaten by unknown miscreants on Tuesday. Stones were pelted at police officials. The matter was resolved when Assistant Commissioner of Police Satish Malhotra ordered the setting up of a police post in the area.

Weeklong bread festival kicks off

The week-long Ludhiana Bread Festival kicked off on Wednesday at Hot Breads,Sarabha Nagar. More than 120 types of breads were on display. Harjinder Singh Kukreja,owner of Hot Breads and organiser of the festival,while talking to Ludhiana Newsline said,”It is for the first time that such a festival is being organised in the city. Nearly 75 per cent of our breads have been made of wheat flour,which is comparatively healthier than white flour. Thus in making these breads we have kept in mind the health quotient as well”.

Sherry Mann returns to promote film

Sherry Mann,Punjabi singer-turned-actor visited the city on Wednesday to promote his forthcoming film ‘Oye Hoye Pyar Ho Gaya’,which is set to hit the theatres on July 14. Following a brawl in the city on June 7,Mann had returned after cancelling all the visits organised to promote the film. While taking to mediapersons at Geoffrey’s,he said that it was a romantic flick with humor and drama. He was accompanied by Yograj Singh,who is also acting in the film.
