Ludhiana: District Youth Congress members on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to Health Minister Satpal Gosain and reminded him about the formation of a drug prevention board to check the use of drugs in Punjab. Gosain had given in writing to MP Ravnit Singh Bittu on May 6 that a board would be formed in 2 months but nothing has been done since. Bittu sat on a hunger strike on the issue outside the Mini Secretariat.

NSE-certified courses

Ludhiana: Gujrawala Guru Nanak Institute of Vocational Studies recently started a new certification program in an agreement with the National Stock Exchange,Delhi. An MOU was signed by NSE Northern Region President & Head T Venkat Rao,and GGN Khalsa Educational Council Senior Vice-President S P Singh on behalf of the Institute. The institute will now be offering NSE-certified professional capital market courses.

45-year-old killed

Ludhiana: Bhupinder Singh,a 45-year-old sub-contractor with the parking lot of Sabzi Mandi,Jalandhar by-pass,was shot dead at Peerubanda Colony,Salem Tabri,on Wednesday morning. He was on his way to work. The cops said,some people stopped him,shot him dead and fled. Singh died on the spot and an FIR was registered on the complaint of his father Jarnail Singh. The victim was divorced about 8 years ago after a year of marriage and Jarnail suspects Bhupinder’s in-laws who too live in Salem Tabri. However,the police registered an FIR against unknown persons. No details about the culprits could be garnered as eyewitnesses refused to divulge any details.
