At govt college,‘Decade of Road Safety’ campaign starts

The ‘Decade of Road Safety’ campaign began at Satish Chand Dhawan Government College in Ludhiana on Wednesday. It is a joint effort of the Punjab Road Safety Council,Ludhiana Citizen Council,SCD Government College and Ludhiana Municipal Corporation.

To mark the occasion,a seminar was organised on Wednesday at the seminar hall of the college in which prominent speakers like Praveen Bansal,Deputy Mayor of Ludhiana Municipal Corporation,Kamaljit Soi,V-C of Punjab Road Safety Council,Darshan Arora,Chairman of Ludhiana Citizen Council and Jasbir Kaur Makkar,Principal of SCD Government College Ludhiana expressed their views.

Kamaljit Singh Soi said that India is number one in road accident deaths. A lot of revenue and human resources are wasted because of these road accidents. He urged the students and teachers to observe traffic rules and obey traffic lights while driving. Parveen Bansal requested the parents to ensure that their wards have proper vehicle training and licence before they purchase vehicle for them.

Darshan Aroara said that such types of programme are organised to create awareness and ensure that Ludhiana Citizen Council will continue to work for traffic rules awareness. Principal of the college Jasbir Kaur Makkar said that from the coming academic session various lectures regarding traffic rules,will be organised in the college.
