Salary hike for councillors
The salary of councillors was increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 on Tuesday. Besides,new allowances have been added to hike the package to Rs 1,100 per month. In other allowances,while mobile bill reimbursement has been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000,Rs 300 will be given per meeting to each councillor. Meanwhile,to bring about reforms under JNNURM,Mayor Hakam Singh Giaspura started online services fro the payment of house tax,water and sewer bills. From now on,bills will be available at a click on the corporation’s website. Talks are on with Axis Bank and PNB to start online payment as well.

Student wins chess contest
Tanveer Singh,a student of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir School in Dugri,came first in the U-17 category of Ten States Open Chess Championship held at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Engineering and Technical Engineering College in Ferozopur.
