GHAZIPUR police have arrested a 35-year-old woman for allegedly killing her two sons, aged one year and seven years, while they were asleep. Police said the woman slit her children’s necks with a knife.
Her husband, a havaldar in the Indian Army, is currently posted in Jammu & Kashmir.

“We have arrested the mother and produced her before a court which sent her to judicial custody,” said Superintendent of Police (Ghazipur) Omvir Singh.
According to the police, the preliminary inquiry has found that the woman is suffering from depression.
“For the last few years, she has been suffering from depression. She had started telling people that she was wasting her knowledge by not taking up a job,” said a police officer.
The woman, according to the police, got married to the havaldar around 14 years ago. After her marriage, she did her post-graduation and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).
Police said that the woman told them that she could not kill her eldest child, an 8-year-old daughter, who was sleeping in the same room as she could not muster the courage.
According to police, they came to know about the case on Saturday morning when the woman’s mother-in-law saw the body of her grandsons lying in a pool of blood on the bed. The woman admitted to having killed her children to her mother-in-law.
