Watch Modi: Aligarh body tells district

Fearing polarisation of votes, the Millat Bedari Muhim Committee has requested Aligarh district administration to closely monitor Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Aligarh on Monday.

Fearing polarisation of votes, the Millat Bedari Muhim Committee has requested Aligarh district administration to closely monitor Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Aligarh on Monday.

The Aligarh-based committee, stands for “promotion of communal harmony, social justice and education”. Modi is scheduled to be in city to campaign for BJP candidate Sheela Gautam. The committee has sent a letter to the district administration, chief election officer, state chief election office and the Central government.

“Modi is the only person who has been listed in the US Council for International Religious Freedom annual report for being denied the US VISA,” reads the letter.

“It is known that under this law,VISA is denied to all those who have ever faced charges of exploiting people’s religious freedom. Several cases in the courts are witness to the fact that Modi is directly or indirectly responsible for the Gujarat carnage,” the letter added.

Jasim Mohammed, president of the committee said Aligarh is a sensitive place and Modi has a habit of making arbitrary remarks against the minority community.

Besides demanding for video recording of Modi’s movements, the committee has also asked the administration to issue a warning to the BJP leaders to restrain from making provocative statements. According to Mohammed,so far the minority vote was dispersed and would go to all candidates. But the moment Modi comes up with his communal speeches the vote will start polarising.
