THE UTTAR Pradesh Police on Saturday completed the “largest recruitment drive for constables”, aimed at filling 60,244 posts amid controversies over national-level examinations. The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB), in collaboration with various government units and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), conducted the drive, a police spokesperson said on Saturday.

The drive spanned 67 districts of Uttar Pradesh, covering 1,174 centres in ten shifts over five days. The examination saw the participation of 48,17,315 candidates, including 6,30,481 from other states.

Heavy deployment for ensuring foolproof security included 245 companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), 8 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and thousands of police officers, inspectors, sub-inspectors and constables.

A three-tier live CCTV monitoring system was established at multiple levels, from the exam centers to district headquarters and the UPPRPB board, supplemented by UP-112 vehicles ready for rapid emergency response. The addition of drone surveillance provided an added layer of security and transparency, reinforcing the credibility of the entire recruitment process.

The UPPRPB conducted rigorous verification process enforced, involving physical checks, digital photo captures, facial recognition, biometric scans, and real-time Aadhaar authentication. Strict anti-cheating measures meant that all prohibited items, such as electronic gadgets and personal belongings, were banned inside examination centres. Violations led to immediate cancellation of the candidate’s examination and legal action.

To protect the integrity of confidential examination materials, special provisions were established for secure handling and transportation, with strong rooms and treasury locations fortified with 24/7 CCTV surveillance. Static magistrates were appointed at each exam centre to maintain oversight and ensure smooth operations, the spokesperson said.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) played a pivotal role in safely transporting candidates, securing 47 special trains and platforms, and setting up help centres to facilitate smooth journeys. Emergency medical arrangements, including ambulances stationed near examination centres, further demonstrated a comprehensive approach to ensuring candidate welfare, said the spokesperson.

DGP UP Prashant Kumar on Saturday lauded the “teamwork, relentless efforts and dedication” of all officers and personnel involved. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, praised the “fair and peaceful execution” of the examination and expressed his gratitude to everyone involved.

UPPRPB Chairman Rajeev Krishna also conveyed his appreciation to the disciplined candidates and assured them that the subsequent phases of the selection process would continue smoothly and on time. As the recruitment board advances to the next stages, this entire process stands as a beacon of the UP Police’s unwavering commitment to maintaining transparency, fairness, and efficiency in public service recruitment.

DGP Kumar said, “The UP Police’s achievement in conducting this massive recruitment drive without any major disruptions sets a benchmark for future large-scale public examinations in the country. It showcases the power of strategic planning, robust monitoring, and unwavering commitment to integrity in public administration.”
