UP Judge alleges attempt on his life, suspects Sunder Bhati gang
Judge Dr Anil Kumar Singh, in his complaint to the police, alleged that gangster Sunder Bhati could have conspired to kill him, seeking revenge for their conviction.

An Additional District and Sessions Judge posted in Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh has claimed that unidentified assailants chased him in a car and tried to kill him while he was traveling from Farrukhabad to Noida on October 29.
Judge Dr Anil Kumar Singh, in his complaint to the police, alleged that gangster Sunder Bhati could have conspired to kill him, seeking revenge for their conviction.
Based on his complaint, an FIR was registered on November 9 at Khair police station in Aligarh. The FIR has been lodged under sections 191(1) and (2) (both related to rioting), 109 (attempt to murder), 126(2) (wrongful restraint on way), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 131 (assault or criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation), 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 61(2) (party to criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Circle Officer (Aligarh) Rajiv Dwivedi, in a video statement, said the judge complained that on October 29, while he was travelling towards Tappal from Khair area, four to five men in a white Bolero overtook his vehicle and tried to stop him.
“The CCTV footage from that day is being reviewed, and details of the accused’s vehicle have been provided. Legal action is underway,” the Circle Officer said.
According to the complaint, the vehicle carrying the judge was heading toward Jattari in Khair, when five unidentified men on a Bolero chased him and repeatedly tried to block his path.
When the judge’s car stopped outside the Sofa police outpost, the alleged assailants made a U-turn and sped away.
“They were using abusive language, and aiming weapons towards me to stop my vehicle, but somehow I escaped,” the FIR read.
The judge told the police that his vehicle neither hit nor touched any other vehicle, leading him to believe it was not a case of road rage.
“The five unknown persons deliberately terrorised me and attacked with an intention to kill me,” the judge said.
He further noted that, during his posting as an Additional Sessions Judge at the District Court in Gautam Buddha Nagar in 2021, he had convicted Sunder Bhati and 11 of his gang members in multiple cases and sentenced them to life imprisonment.
“That I have the suspicion that Sunder Bhati and his gang members have conspired to get me attacked with an intention to kill or take revenge for their conviction and punishment as these persons have never been convicted in spite of having a long criminal antecedents,” the judge said in the FIR.
On the delay in filing the FIR, the judge said in his complaint that he had verbally informed the Sofa police outpost in-charge and also reported the incident via phone to Khair SHO DK Sisodiya and the Public Relations Officer of the SSP, Aligarh.
