The five-year term of Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar came to an end on Wednesday, though he is expected to continue till the announcement of his successor.

Rajeswar, who had taken over as the governor of the state on July 8,2004,became the fifth governor in the state to complete his five-year term.

Before him,K M Munshi,Vishvanath Das,B Gopala Reddy and C P N Singh had completed their terms too. Though Mohd Usman Arif too had a long term,he missed the completion of his tenure by a month. Rajeswar, during his tenure, has earned the ire of some political parties, especially the Samajwadi Party, for his alleged “soft attitude” towards the ruling BSP,even though he has made his presence felt by turning down some of the important decisions of the Mayawati government. He also turned down the selection of a controversial former IAS officer as the chief information commissioner.
