Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP senior leader Uma Bharti has in letters to UPA chief Sonia Gandhi and Congress national general secretary Rahul Gandhi demanded inquiry into the allegations of corruption that party national secretary Kirit Somaiya has made against UP Chief Minister Mayawatis family members.
At a press conference in Lucknow on Monday,Somaiya had alleged that Mayawatis brother Anand Kumar and his wife owned a company which had received unsecured loans of Rs 67 crore in 2011,while the total turnover of the company in last three years was just Rs 30,000.
Bharti said she had written to Sonia Gandhi because the agencies meant for probe in such cases were with the Central government. Action should be taken against her and Somaiya if the allegations turn out to be fake and against Mayawati and her family members if they are true, she has stated her letters.
She said people in UP suspect a tacit understanding between the Congress and BSP. To remove that suspicion also, the UPA should order an inquiry into Somaiyas allegations, she said.
