CM suspends 34 excise officers
Lucknow: Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has suspended 34 officials of Excise Department including six District Excise Officers on Saturday. Departmental action has also been recommended against two Assistant Excise commissioners. The official spokesperson informed that charges on all these officials include over-rating of liquor in their area,laxity in monitoring,connivance with liquor retail dealers and ignoring official instructions.
15 IAS officers transferred
Lucknow: The state government transferred 15 IAS officials and gave additional charge to three officials Saturday. The additional charge of Infrastructure and Industrial Commissioner (IIDC) and Principal Secretary,Industrial Development Department has been given to Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) Alok Ranjan. No one was appointed since Anil Aggrawal was transferred from post of IIDC in January 2013 while the Principal Secretary,Industrial Development post was lying vacant since the transfer of Sanjay Aggrawal a month ago.
1-yr LLM course at Lohia univ next yr
LUCKNOW: Lucknow-based Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU) on Saturday approved a one-year LLM course from session 2014-15 in pursuance of the UGC guidelines regarding the introduction of one-year LLM programme,RMLNLU spokesperson Dr A P Singh informed Saturday. The university also revised the fee of the course from Rs 40,000 to Rs 1.10 lakh.
Positive aspects of DU course in LU
Lucknow: From the next academic session,Lucknow University will incorporate the positive aspects of Delhi Universitys newly introduced four-year undergraduate programme,LU vice-chancellor Dr S B Nimse informed Saturday. He,however,added that due to various constraints,there are no plans to introduce a similar four-year course in LU.
Two youths killed in accident
Lakhimpur Kheri: Two youths were killed when their motorcycle crashed into a railway level crossing barrier in Gola town area,police said Saturday. Alok (25) and Monu (22),both residents of Kumharan Tola locality,tried to cross the rail track in a hurry as the barrier was being lowered for an approaching train Friday night,police said.
