A case of robbery was registered against six policemen, including a senior sub-inspector,a sub-inspector and four constables, for allegedly harassing a man who was falsely implicated in a murder case along with six others last year.

The case was registered at City Kotwali on Tuesday after the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate ordered registration of FIR against SS-I Sohrab Singh and his five colleagues on the basis of a complaint filed by Karamvir Singh.

Karamvir, who was acquitted of murder charges along with six others and was released from jail on September 24,had filed a complaint with the CJM court alleging that a week after his release Sohrab Singh and five other policemen raided his house.

He alleged that the policemen took away Rs 15,000 from his house and used to harass him and his family as he had told the court during the trial that police were falsely implicating him in the murder case of one Chandrapal Yadav.

In 2008,police arrested Karamvir and six others on charges of killing Chandrapal after they recovered a decomposed body which was identified by Chandapal’s father.

But on May 18,2009 after Chandrapal surfaced and appeared before the court, the judge acquitted Karamvir and six others.

According to Karamvir, police were angry with him as he had told the court that they were implicating him in a false case.
