A devastating five wicket haul by Shalabh Singh and a 96-run first wicket partnership between Subhang Raj (51) and Anurag Sharma (44) went a long way as their team Secretary XI defeated Sanrakshak XI by 18 runs in their league match of the CAL Under-16 Cricket League at LDA Stadium,Lucknow on Thursday.

Batting first after winning the toss,Secretary XI mustered 160 runs losing six wickets in the given 35 overs,thanks to responsible batting performances by Subhang Raj (51),Anurag Sharma (44) and Surya Bhatia (21 not out). Rishabh Sharma and Deepak Tripathi claimed two wickets each while Kishan Sharma and Zeeshan Ansari took one wicket each.

In reply,Sanrakshak XI was bowled out at a total of 142 runs in 30.4 overs. Nikhil Shukla (39),Abubaker (23) and M Raza (24) batted responsibly for the team. But besides them few others could make a reasonable contribution to the team total,due to the accurate bowling displayed by most of the Secretary XI bowlers.

Shalabh Singh claimed five wickets conceding 36 runs in his 6.4 over spell,Himanshu Mishra took three wickets while Anurag Singh grabbed apiece.
