Chief Minister Mayawati today issued directives for the effective implementation of reservations for the schedule caste and schedule tribes in the contracts for civil,electrical and other works awarded by various government departments and agencies.
The CMs directives came after she was briefed about the results of the monthly review meeting of the development schemes and other works of the government by Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh. The review meeting was attended by all secretaries and principal secretaries of the government.
According to an official release here today,the chief minister is showing keen interest in the implementation of the schemes for the reservations for SC/ST in government contracts and has said any laxity in this regard would not be tolerated and the officials /government departments failing to perform will be held accountable for the lapses.
The CM is also said to have told the officials to ensure criminal elements are prevented from participating in the bidding process for the award of government contracts.
For the Ambedkar villages identified for development during the financial year 2010-11,the chief minister said the PWD and other agencies involved in the development should ensure the financial sanctions for the development schemes are released by May. She also directed that all the development works in Amebdkar villages should be completed by the year-end.
On the progress of the Kanshiram scheme for the urban poor,Mayawati said this is an ambitious scheme being implemented by the state government for the urban poor and no laxity would be tolerated in its implementation. She said the construction of houses under the scheme taken up during the last fiscal should be completed by May-end and beneficiaries should be given the possession of their houses by the end of the same month. She said required funds have already been made available to the implementation agencies and there was no scope for any excuse now.
Taking serious exception of the delay in the chakbandi (land consolidation scheme),Mayawati said in all the villages where it is underway for the last 25 years,it should be completed in the next six months. She also directed the revenue department to ensure the allotment of agriculture land to the landless poor and agriculture labour on priority basis.
