Row over ‘vote cast 8 times’: Boy in video a minor, say cops
The police said they identified the boy in the video with the help of local residents.

THE ETAH police claimed on Monday that a person seen in a video, purportedly admitting to casting his vote “eight times”, is a minor boy. After recording his statement, they handed him over to his father.
After the video surfaced online, the Etah police registered a case against unidentified persons for alleged violations of the model code of conduct and other offences. The police said they identified the boy in the video with the help of local residents.
“We called the boy for questioning. Since he is a minor and the charges against him are bailable, we could not detain him. With the assistance of the district child welfare officer, we handed him over to his father. The boy will be under his father’s supervision,” said a police officer.
Meanwhile, the Etah district administration announced that they have recommended the suspension of the polling officials concerned and initiated departmental action against the sector magistrate.
Additionally, a recommendation has been forwarded to the Election Commission of India for a repoll at the polling station concerned.
