Reward on Atiq’s wife doubled

The Uttar Pradesh government has doubled the reward money on former MP Atiq Ahmed’s wife Shaista Parveen, who is wanted in the murder case of advocate Umesh Pal and his two police bodyguards, from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000. Atiq is lodged in the Sabarmati Central Jail in Gujarat.

The reward money will be given for giving information Shaista’s whereabouts, a police officer said.

On February 24, Umesh Pal and his two bodyguards were shot dead in the Dhoomangaj area of Prayagraj.

Umesh’s wife Jaya Pal lodged a case against Atiq, his brother Ashraf, Shaista, their son Asad and others in the murder case.

Prayagraj police have so far arrested eight persons in the case while two were killed in encounters.
