A local court in Rampur on Tuesday framed charges against Sabauddin,an alleged LeT operative who was arrested in connection with the attack on the CRPF camp on December 31,2007. Sabauddin was brought to Rampur from the Lucknow District Jail where he is currently lodged.
Sarvesh Kumar Gupta,Additional District Government Counsel,said charges against six other accused have already been framed. The process got delayed in case of Sabauddin because he was sent to Bombay to face trial in the 26/11 Mumbai attack case,” said Gupta. A special court in Mumbai had acquitted him and Fahim Ansari,another accused,and the Bombay High Court has upheld the special court’s order.
A native of Bihar,Sabauddin was arrested on February 10,2008 near Charbagh Railway Station in Lucknow. Other accused in the Rampur CRPF camp attack case are Pakistani nationals Imran Shahzad and Farooq,and four locals — Mohammad Sharif,Jung Bahadur Khan alias Baba,Mohammad Kausar and Gulab Khan.
