Ramjanmabhoomi trust head Nritya Gopal Das gets Y-category security

The SSP added that so far a police gunner was provided to Das.

Central government has sanctioned Y-category security to Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, the working president of Ramjanmabhoomi Nyas, a trust formed to promote the construction of Ram temple in Ayodha.

Under the category, 11 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel will guard Das.

SSP, Faizabad, K B Singh said that a CRPF team reached Faizabad on Wednesday and took over the security of Das. He, however, said, they have not received a letter regarding the Y-category security to the Mahant.

The SSP added that so far a police gunner was provided to Das.

Mahant Das, who is also the president of Krishna Janmabhoomi Nyas Mathura and Maniram Das Chhawni Seva Trust in Ayodha, had suffered murderous attack when assailants hurled crude bombs on him while he along with others were on way to Saryu river in 2001 in Ayodhya. Mahant had survived with splinter injuries while four others had sustained serious injuries.
A case was then lodged at Ayodhya police station in this regard.

In 2007, Mahant had received a letter threatening to life claiming to be from a terror group.
