Rahul Gandhi and sister Priyanka Gandhi,who arrived in Amethi Tuesday morning,conducted interviews for the post of 17 blocks and five town area presidents as part of the partys reorganisation process in Congress vice-presidents parliamentary constituency. The two also interacted with party workers and local leaders.
As many as 43 candidates were interviewed at Munshiganj guest house throughout the day. More interviews would be held Wednesday.
A candidate said: They (Rahul and Priyanka) asked me as to how can I strengthen the party in my region,whether I think the party is strong here and where did the party stand in my block in the last Assembly elections.
He said questions were also posed on UPAs flagship schemes and their status in the region. They also asked us about food security initiative of UPA government,whether we know how it can benefit society,and asked us to talk about it in our respective blocks as well, said another party worker.
A party leader said their preparedness for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections was also put to test. They were also asked if the Samajwadi Party leaders or workers were creating hurdles for them.
