Rahul attends DISHA meet, inaugurates project in UP’s Rae Bareli

Local MLAs, who included representatives from BJP and Samajwadi Party, briefed Gandhi about local issues and development works.

Local Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Parliament Rahul Gandhi reached his constituency Rae Bareli on Tuesday and held a meeting with the district administration and public representatives, discussing several local issues and development works. Gandhi also unveiled development projects in the presence of local BJP MLC and state minister Dinesh Pratap Singh, who also attended the meeting with the administration.

Gandhi also visited the family of a Dalit youth, Arjun Pasi, who was murdered following a dispute with some people in August. In a message on X later in the day, Rahul posted, “My relations with Rae Bareli might be very old, it deepens every time I arrive here. Showering love and affection, people shared their problems and issues.”

He also wrote, “Rae Bareli has given me respect by making me its voice. I am always ready to meet every need, prosperity and to find the solution to all the problems here.”

Rahul later inaugurated the newly developed Shaheed Chowk, dedicated to martyrs, and also nine roads constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna.

He later visited the family of Dalit youth Arjun Pasi, who was shot dead in August. Talking to mediapersons afterwards, Rahul alleged that the Dalit family was “not getting justice” and the local police are not taking action against the alleged mastermind behind the killing. “We will be raising our voice for justice for the family,” Rahul said.

Rahul left Rae Bareli after offering prayers at the Hanuman temple. Later in the day, state minister Dinesh Pratap Singh showed a poster to mediapersons. In the poster, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader took potshots at Gandhi for spending less time in his constituency.
“It has been more than six months, the MP (Gandhi) has not spent a night in his constituency,” he said.

“In the last six months, (Gandhi spent) only five hours. Then in five years, it will be 50 hours. It means in five years, only two days?” the poster, titled ‘Rae Bareli ke Rahulji’, said, requesting the Congress leader to spend a night in his constituency
