Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a visit to his Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh Friday, took a swipe at the opposition parties and said “people who play games to gain power are interested only in advancement of their family”.

In his first visit after his third term as the prime minister began, he laid the foundation stone and inaugurate about 44 development projects worth over Rs 3,880 crore. “Kashi is becoming health capital,” he said on the district steering development in the Purvanchal region.

Addressing a public gathering, he said: “Our guiding mantra in serving the nation has always been ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’. With this spirit, we continue to move forward for the betterment of every citizen. In contrast, he said those who are power hungry play political games day and night, driven not by national interest but by a single-minded focus on family-based support and family-centric development.

“Banaras has gained new momentum of development in last 10 years. Today’s Kashi is not just ancient but also progressive,” he added.

Among the projects inaugurated by the PM are several flyover projects, a highway underpass tunnel, electricity substations for districts in the Varanasi subdivision, a hostel and barracks for police personnel, and sports facilities.

He also flagged off 130 drinking water projects, 100 new anganwadi centres, 356 libraries, a polytechnic college in Pindra, and a government degree college, as per Varanasi Divisional Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma.

Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were among those present on the occasion.
