Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “one of the most visionary leaders and a global statesman”, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said India transformed into a nation that inspires others under his leadership.

Launching the BJP’s “Seva Pakhwada” in Lucknow on the occasion of Modi’s 75th birthday, Adityanath said, “Prime Minister Modi is not only India’s most visionary and popular leader, but also a global statesman. Today, under his leadership, the world is witnessing a new India. Once considered lagging, India now inspires the world with its self-confidence.”

Praising Modi’s handling of the Covid crisis, the chief minister said India presented the best example of pandemic management and became a global model. “For a century, India did not receive a single vaccine from outside. Yet under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, our scientists developed a COVID-19 vaccine in just nine months. It was provided free of cost to citizens, and India also extended its hand of friendship by supplying vaccines to dozens of countries. This not only safeguarded lives but also showcased India as a dependable partner to the world in times of crisis,” he said.

Adityanath also said, “Any Indian who is not politically motivated feels proud of the country’s transformation under PM Modi’s leadership.” He added that Indians abroad also feel a renewed sense of pride in seeing a “changing India”.

Adityanth emphasised that a self-reliant India and a self-reliant Uttar Pradesh are interconnected goals, and PM Modi’s Vision 2047 serves as the guiding framework for achieving these objectives.

Later in the day, the CM launched the ‘Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan’ by rolling out 20,324 health camps across the state, and said that it was a tribute to Prime Minister Modi on his 75th birthday.

Lauding Modi’s leadership, Adityanath said: “Under his inspiration, Uttar Pradesh has taken significant steps for women’s empowerment over the past eight years — from free education for girls to the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana that provides Rs 25,000 from birth to graduation and financial aid of up to Rs 1 lakh for their wedding.”

Amethi gets medical college, CM takes a dig at Cong, Gandhi family

At the event, Adityanath took a dig at the Congress, saying those who ruled the country for 65 years could not set up a medical college in Amethi.

“Think about it, you have been hearing the name of Amethi for so long, but those who ruled the country for 65 years could not build a medical college there. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, we have given a medical college in Amethi within eight years, and admissions for 50 seats will begin this year,” Adityanath said without naming the Congress or the Gandhi family.

Amethi and Raebareli are considered strongholds of the Congress and the Gandhi family. Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, currently represents Raebareli. Rahul represented Amethi in the Lok Sabha in 2004, 2009, and 2014, while his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and mother Sonia Gandhi had also won from the seat in earlier years.

“I especially thank the medical health department for inaugurating the 41st medical college yesterday (Tuesday), which has been built in Amethi in the last eight years (of the BJP government in UP),” the chief minister said.

Adityanath also lauded state minister Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, who is an MLA from Tiloi constituency in Amethi district, saying, “I especially congratulate minister of state Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, who made his personal property available for this medical college.”

Highlighting the expansion of medical infrastructure under the BJP government, the chief minister said, “From the time modern health facilities started in Uttar Pradesh till 2017, only 40 medical colleges were built, both government and private. In just the last eight years, 41 new medical colleges have come up, most of them government-run.
