A Special Court (Anti-Corruption) on Tuesday remanded AICC member Daljit Singh and State Food Corporation official Suresh Dhar Dubey in police custody for three days.
The agency will be taking both the accused in custody tomorrow morning and will hand them over in judicial custody at Lucknow district jail on Saturday morning,said a CBI official. The accused,who were arrested yesterday evening,were produced before the court and were sent in judicial custody today. Special Judge Jai Prakash Singh heard the CBI application seeking police custody remand of both the accused.
CBI sources said Singh and Dubey were the key persons behind the diversion of wheat and rice,meant for PDS,from the Mohanlalganj godown. The accused will be interrogated about the places where the foodgrain was diverted and the modus operandi of the crime.
Singh allegedly used to pay the cut money to 85 fair price shop licence holders in Mohanlalganj area.
