Soon,primary and upper primary students of districts in the Lucknow Division will be able to learn English with the help of radio.
Last year,the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) and UNICEF had introduced Interactive English Learning through radio broadcast in Lucknow. The programme was launched in over 1,200 primary and 500 upper primary schools in the state capital on a pilot basis.
After its successful implementation,the authorities are now planning to extend the programme to other districts in the Lucknow Division Hardoi,Lakhimpur Kheri,Rae Bareli,Sitapur and Unnao.
We are deliberating on the issue and still need to work out the modalities, said Lalita Pradeep,Principal,DIET-Lucknow. The English classes in this session will begin by September. With 81 lessons to be taught,we will easily be able to cover the course in this session, she added.
At present,classes are being held for Classes IV and VI students. Lessons for Classes V and VII have also been prepared. Apart from words and sentence formation,we will include poems and stories, said Pradeep.
The technical support for the programme is being provided by a Pune-based NGO Centre for Learning Resources.
