Often, the best performances by Shahrukh Khan are offscreen and the one he delivered at Lucknow on a cold and frosty Wednesday while promoting his forthcoming film Don2 was such an exception. Hundreds of visitors to Phoenix mall confirmed his star-power,hanging in wait on the railings for over an hour and cheering themselves hoarse as he arrived with his characteristic aplomb and did a jig with co-actor Priyanka Chopra to the tune of the movies songs, even enacting a scene or two from the film. The act continued through the media interaction, which he warmed up with an As salamu alaykum, nudging Chopra and the films director Farhan Akhtar to share their association with Lucknow.
The first part was a tribute to the Amitabh Bachchan-starring classic, but the sequel is absolutely original and a thrilling narration of how after conquering South East Asia,Don reaches out for Europe, said Khan, avoiding any mention of his last venture,Ra.One,which evoked a response not very heartening. There are chilling thrills and exotic Continental locales…Don concluded open-endedly and Farhan was constantly hounded with the question whether there would be a sequel so he came up with one, said Khan, adding that it is an exciting time for cinema, where risks are being taken and there is immense scope for characterisation.
