Murder case against students,institute

The FIR was lodged with Sarojini Nagar police on the complaint of the victim’s father,Dharam Raj Mishra. He had alleged that his daughter was a victim of ragging. The institute,however,had claimed that Poonam committed suicide in frustration over her poor communication skills in English. Lucknow DIG Prem Prakash said,“In the FIR,the girl’s father has blamed the college management and seniors for her death.”

An inquiry committee,formed the UPTU,has asked the institute to explain the basis of their claim. The institute is affiliated to UPTU.

The three-member committee has sought a written statement from the college authorities about the incident. “The college gave a vague statement today that the girl committed suicide as she was poor in English,” said J B Srivastava,a committee member.

“The committee has sought the name of teachers who taught the girl and was able to see that she was poor in English in just two days. They also have to tell how many lectures were delivered in BTech first-year during these two days,” he added. The committee has also sought details about the movement of the girl in the hostel and her interaction with other inmates. “The committee will also check if ragging was behind the incident,” Srivastava said.
