Murder accused shot at on district court campus in UP

An undertrail was shot at on the campus of the district court in Hardoi on Monday afternoon, where he was brought to attend a hearing in a murder case.

Kaushal, the assailant, reportedly attacked undertrial Babloo alias Chhuttan (27) to avenge the murder of his brother Kishore. Babloo had allegedly killed Kishore in Hardoi on August 5.

Kotwali Station House Officer Nagesh Mishra said: “The incident occurred when constable Surendra Prasad was taking Babloo to the court from court’s lock-up. Kaushal appeared from behind and fired at Babloo.” Surendra Prasad chased Kaushal and caught him outside the court.

Babloo was taken to the district hospital, from where he was referred to KGMU Trauma Centre in Lucknow, where his condition is stated to be critical, the SHO added. Police have recovered two countrymade pistols of .315 bore from Kaushal.
