The monsoon will hit eastern UP by June 27 after travelling through West Bengal and Bihar.

The monsoon will hit eastern UP by June 27 after travelling through West Bengal and Bihar.

In the next three days,it will cover central and western Uttar Pradesh before entering Delhi in the first week of July, possibly leaving Bundelkhand dry.

Professor Padmakar Tripathi, head of Meteorological Department at Narendra Dev University of Agriculture and Technology, said the monsoon has been delayed by 10 days due to Cyclone Aila in the Bay of Bengal on May 28 and 29. “The cyclone absorbed all moisture from the Bay of Bengal and caused heavy rains in the costal area of West Bengal and Orissa, leaving UP dry for more than 10 days,” Tripathi said.

Usually, the monsoon hits Uttar Pradesh around June 18,said Tripathi.
