Maya visits flood-affected districts

After reviewing the flood situation in the state,Chief Minister Mayawati today directed officials to expedite the relief work in the flood-affected districts.

After reviewing the flood situation in the state,Chief Minister Mayawati today directed officials to expedite the relief work in the flood-affected districts.

According to Mayawati,the flood-affected people should be evacuated to safer places,companies of the PAC be deployed and relief material like essential commodities and medicines should be provided to the people.

The chief minister reviewed the flood situation in Bahriach,Pilibhit,Lakhimpur,and Siddarth nagar,Gorakhpur,Barabanki,Gonda,Deoria,Shravasti,Sitapur,Faizabad and Kushinagar.

According to an official press release,Rs 47 crore has been released so far for the flood-affected districts from the calamity relief fund and 17 companies of the PAC have been deployed in relief and rescue operations.

Following heavy rainfall in the last 48 hours and release of water from Nepal,the water levels in Sharda and Ghaghra in Lakhimpur,Gorakhpur and Bahriach districts has increased.

The state has recorded 38.4 mm of rainfall during the last 48 hours and more rains is expected in the next 48 hours as per the forecast of the Met department.
