Mayas parks will be used by poor for their functions: CM

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Saturday reiterated that memorials constructed during the previous Mayawati regime will be utilised for social functions.

Akhilesh was addressing a public meeting at Chandauli organised by MP Ram Kishun Yadav to observe the death anniversary of his father,former MLA Ganji Prasad Yadav.

Thousands of crores of rupees were siphoned away for the construction of these memorials. Those who are guilty of corruption will not be spared. There is no harm if we utilise these memorials for social functions. They will be given to poor people for organising their functions, Akhilesh said.

Akhilesh had aired similar views last Thursday in Lucknow. He had justified his stand saying that memorials will receive publicity if weddings and other functions are held there. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) had,however,objected to it and submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Governor.
