Maya govt holding up central projects: Beni

Beni Prasad Verma blamed the UP gove for creating hurdles in development projects in the state and requested that the land for setting up various projects of the Union government be provided as soon as possible.

Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma today blamed the Uttar Pradesh government for creating hurdles in development projects in the state and requested that the land for setting up various projects of the Union government be provided as soon as possible.

He said the Union steel ministry had written to the state government for a licence to explore the possibility of iron-ore mining in Lalitpur.

“Only 5-10 acres would be required to study the potential of the area but later, for setting up a steel plant in Laliltpur,we would require over 1,000 acres. I would request the state government to pursue our proposals for the betterment of the people,” Verma told reporters.

He dubbed Chief Minister Mayawati’s letters to the Prime Minister demanding reservation for various communities a political stunt,“just because the election is approaching”.

On the prospects of the Congress in the Assembly elections,Verma said,“All those who claim they will get a majority are lying. But I can say that no matter what, the Congress will certainly gain over the others in this election.”

He described Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s fast as “drama”.
