Man kills 16-year-old cousin for resisting rape, dumps her body outside house: Police

“The incident took place Monday, after the girl came back home from school. Her family members were not at home but Singh, who had come for a visit Sunday, was there,” said Bijendra Singh Bhadana, station officer of Ecotech 3 police station in Greater Noida.

When Singh tried to rape the girl, she fought back, enraging him, said police.

“He realised that if she managed to escape, she would inform the rest of the family about the incident. He pushed her down the stairs and then strangulated her,” said Bhadana.

In one of the journal entries, the victim promised her father that she wouldn’t do anything ‘which may hurt his soul.

Initially, the accused hid the victim’s body inside one of the rooms in the house, said police.

The brother of the victim said that Singh had lied to him to ensure that he was not at home on the day of the incident.

“He called me to his house in Mandawali Sunday. As soon as I reached his place, he left, saying he had some work in Jagatpuri. Instead, he went to my house,” he said.

The victim’s family members told police that Singh had earlier tried to molest the girl. She had informed her family members about the incident and they had told his mother about it.

According to the victim’s mother, she allowed Singh to visit their home again as she thought he had mended his ways.

“He stayed overnight with us… I left for work Monday morning and we left the keys with him,” she said.

When the victim’s mother came back home Monday evening, she found her daughter missing. “Anil told me she had gone to a birthday party… but I got suspicious,” she said.

After waiting for the teenager till Monday midnight, the family went to file a police complaint. Singh allegedly took this opportunity to take the body out of the room and dump it in an open area nearby.

When the family returned home, they found the room locked.

“After I broke the lock, we found the room was in a state of disarray. After searching for her for a few hours, we found her body at a spot near our house,” said her brother.

He said that Singh had confessed to the crime while he was being questioned by police.
