Schools in Lucknow remained closed on Monday after incessant heavy rainfall from Saturday night inundated several pockets of the Uttar Pradesh’s capital city and its adjoining areas. In some areas, water entered the houses leading to inconvenience for the locals.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered immediate relief measures and steps to clear the waterlogging. He also instructed officials to keep a close watch on the rising water level of the rivers and issue alerts accordingly. Officials were directed to conduct the evaluation of the loss of crop due to the weather so that the affected farmers can be compensated accordingly.

Waterlogging was witnessed in the areas like Gomtinagar, Ashiana, Jankipuram, Aliganj, Transportnagar and even some areas of Hazaratganj situated in the heart of the city.

Some areas like Gomtinagar also reported falling of trees.
