The Lucknow University served a termination notice to Dr Ajay Kumar,a lecturer of BBA Tourism Management, after he was found guilty of improper behaviour following complaints from some girl students that he used “sexually offensive” language with them.

Vice-chancellor M K Mishra immediately constituted a six-member committee headed by Dean,Students Welfare,Dr Rakesh Chandra,which submitted its report on April 27.

“A notice regarding the termination of services was issued by the university on May 4 or 5,” said university spokesman Dr S K Dwivedi.

“The step has been taken because it was proven that Kumar had displayed a behaviour unbecoming of a teacher and the university cannot tolerate such behaviour,” said Dwivedi, adding, since he was on a contract,Kumar will be served a notice for a month before his services are terminated.

Kumar, however, said: “I have not received any orders of termination. Since the university was closed for the last few days,I may receive it next week,” said Kumar. “If the orders are against me,I will move court,” he added.

On April 8,a number of girls from the second semester of BBA Tourism Management, met the V-C and submitted an application complaining about Kumar’s misbehaviour.

The students alleged that Kumar who had taken a group of 11 students, including five girls,to an educational tour to Bengaluru in February had misbehaved with the girls and used “sexually offensive words”,said one of the members of the committee.
