Rekha and you have been in a cold war for years.
Yes,before we started working on the film I hadnt spoken to Rekha in ages. We both had our reasons and I guess it was my fault. I think I had stretched the limits of my humour. But we have now hugged and made up.
And what prompted you to suddenly get back together?
My wife. I think Im lucky to have a wife who pushed me towards a lady as beautiful as Rekha. It was my wifes idea that we should work together. So now if anything happens between us,my wife will have to blame herself.
What made you agree to play the lead hero at your age?
I think it was because I was tempted by the idea of working with such a beautiful,evergreen and nice person like Rekha. She was the bait for me. How could someone like me refuse working with the most stunning beauty of our industry?
And what about the story?
I play a very rich and clumsy tycoon. He suddenly falls in love with a 27-year-old girl,played by Hrishitaa Bhatt. But then the old and gold and absolutely stunning Rekha comes on the screen and you will have to watch what happens. This is one of the best roles she has ever played. The movie is very funny. And many people will be able to identify with the film: it is the story of many marriages these days.
How did you manage a shoot with your packed political schedule?
I told people in Delhi that Im in Mumbai and the other way around. But I had run away to another city to shoot.
