Uttar Pradesh: Kendriya Vidyalaya teacher, ministry official held for accepting bribe

The CBI arrested a teacher of Kendriya Vidyalaya and an official of Defence Department for accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a youth who had applied for the post of yoga teacher at the school in Chakeri area of Kanpur district.

According to CBI, complainant of the case had applied for the post of sports coach/ yoga teacher on a contractual basis in Kendriya Vidyalaya. Milind Kant, husband of Kendriya Vidyalaya principal Geeta Dwivedi, and sports teacher Pankaj Tomar had demanded Rs 25,000 for securing appointment of the post.

Milind works as a technical officer at the Defence Material & Store and Development Establishment under Ministry of Defence’s DRDO in Kanpur.

On the basis of the complaint, CBI laid a trap and arrested Tomar while he was taking bribe of Rs 15,000 on Saturday.

Later, the probe agency arrested Kant as well under Prevention of Corruption Act, said a CBI official.

The official added that the accused on Tuesday were produced before the CBI court in Lucknow, which sent them in judicial custody.
