Chitrakoot Zila Panchayat chiefs car seized under Gangster Act
An SUV car owned by Chitrakoot Zila Panchayat chairman Veer Singh was seized by the local police under 14 (1) UP of the Gangster Act on Saturday. Singhs bank account had earlier been seized by the police.
On the basis of the police report,it was found that Veer Singh had amassed money through criminal activities. On the direction of the District Magistrate,I sent a letter to the district police asking them to seize Veers car and his bank account, said Sub-divisional magistrate,Karvi,Gulab Chand
Veer Singhs car worth Rs 14.97 lakh was seized on the orders of District Magistrate Vishal Nath Rai,said police,adding that an FIR under 2/3 Gangster Act had been filed against him (Veer) at the Raipura police station in Chitrakoot in 2007.
On January 11,we seized the bank account of Veer Singh in which Rs 35,000 was deposited and since then we were looking for the car,said in-charge of the Raipura police station DK Singh.
On late Friday night,the police spotted Veers car at Maiki road under Raipura police station. We took the car in custody and informed the driver of the same, said D K Singh,adding that the car was purchased by Veer Singh in 2005 from an Allahabad showroom.
Veer Singh is the son of dreaded dacoit Dadua who was killed in 2007. His (Veers) uncle Bal Kumar Patel is Samajwadi Party MP from Mirzapur.
Police teams to be sent to US,UK
The state government will send 45 state cadre police officials of Additional SP and Deputy SP ranks to undergo various specialised training related to policing in US and London in February. While 25 officials have been chosen to attend the 15-day course at the Advanced Tactical Training Institute,New Mexico,US,the rest will undergo the Leading Strategic Changes course at RIPA International,London. H S Balwaria,ADG Police Training College,Sitapur,who has been deputed as the course coordinator for the US trip,said that the two-week course which would begin from February 15 at New Mexico is based on combating terrorism. The course would also include modules like development of realistic training scenarios involving psychomotor skills,designing a model that requires complex decision-making and ensure safe training sites. The course at RIPA would involve training to improve and lead strategy work,skills to assess and develop strategic capacity.
